BoeingSkunkWorks Having served in the Air Force during this entire series and the following two, I can tell you this hits very close to home. Especially being in the nuclear weapons business.It was a scary time back then, and we were closer to war than any normal everyday civilians realized.This is a very good story and is true to life for the times. Great script, good acting, and viable situations and incidents. Once you see the first episode, you'll be hooked. There are a few episodes that have a tense spy sequence, and the cinematography, acting, and music work perfectly in concert to keep you fixed in your seat. The character interactions generally seem quite natural, and the show does a nice job of transporting the viewer to the time period. The big weakness of the show is that too many characters commit suicide. In each of those situations, it's a weak way to write the characters out of the show (assuming the actors wanted out). However, I would recommend Deutschland 83 and am looking forward to watching the next season. Yes, some of it feeds on too much stereotype, but there's genuine action and believable characters involved. It also tended to not cast too much judgement on either side, which made the series come alive. I recommend.
