How do we, as professionals, view people who are different than us, in this case, someone with a mental illness, yet someone with extraordinary talent, heart, bravery, and honesty? The legal profession is not so different than the music industry. By passing on gifted people who are different than the able-bodied, white male between the ages of 25-40, the preferred group of lawyers hired, you also pass up gifted attorneys and staff because they don’t fit that norm. For example, what does your firm, agency, or government entity do to intentionally recruit Black applicants or those with disabilities for any position, not only attorneys? And, once hired, how do you show support and nurture the growth of that employee to make sure they feel heard and supported? Otherwise, talented Black attorneys and those with disabilities, who you do manage to recruit, will leave after less than 2-5 years.

A viral video featuring a predominantly Asian fraternity dancing to "Kiss Me More" by Doja Cat and SZA has ignited a discussion on cultural appropriation. The video, with over 20M views, has sparked claims of disrespect toward Black culture and Black Greek organizations. Some comments highlight that "stepping" is a significant part of African culture, later adopted by the Divine Nine, a group of Black fraternities and sororities under the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. The critics suggest that the fraternity in the video is treating this culturally rooted practice as a mere dance, showing a lack of understanding and respect.#VeniceFilmFestival #CulturalAppropriation #LanguageInCinema #LawProfessor #CulturalPropertyLaw #CopyrightLaw #Trademarks#LegalExpertise #IntellectualPropertyLaw #trademarklaw #traditionalknowledge #intangibleculturalheritage #CulturalIntellectualProperty #IPRights #CulturalHeritage #CulturalPropertyRights #CulturalOwnership #jotkulture #HeritageProtection #IndigenousRights #csr #copyright #corporatesocialresponsiblity #intellectualproperty
