I would also go with a 6.5" coaxial with Pivotal tweeter...JMO.

Good luck with what you decide on and let us know how it sounds!

So far everything I've put together is only on paper haven't finalized anything at this point.

As for Coaxials I understand the point and it makes sense, just not what I want to do.

If, like me you find the Alpine heads insufferably ugly, the standalone PXE-H650 does the same processing.

Actually know I'm not using the Audyssey stuff yet, everything is just on paper as I'm learning and planning my system so that when I do buy my equipment I'll get it right hopefully from the start and pretty much set it and forget it from then on.

Actually I have always liked the looks of Alpines, though I don't think the fit and finish is what it used to be and wish the face was motorized as on other high end HU's.

I will not argue this as I am not a audio technician I don't even think I qualify for audiophile status at least not as much as I have the impression you are from what I've read here and over at DIYMA. Matter of fact I read a lot of what you said over in the "Tweeterless" thread and somethings even here in other threads and a lot of it was "Greek to me." So it just could have been my impression based on my uninformed thinking.

Point well taken. I may have actually already settled on an alternative unless you or someone can give a good reason to change my mind. See the I list at the end of this reply...

For now I think I'll stick with the Ebay Sub Box, but I went to Clearwater's site and didn't even see their footwell sub listed anywhere.

After a lot of searching I discovered this fact by accident when searching for other information here at miata.net.

New Potential System list with some links and questions about alternative "Wideband approach" options:

Alpine CDA-9887 & and Alpine KTX-100EQ IMPRINT Sound Manager-Both for $439.94

Elemental Designs Combo Set-$300. Click Here

This setup would have well under my $1000 budget with plenty left for sound damping, wiring, etc.

Now what I have gathered regarding the "Wideband Approach" Please take none of my question as sarcasm in the section as I freely admit I know nothing on this topic...

Decapotable over at DIYMA you said' One can get better sound (measured and audible) with much, much cheaper components if one employs just the slightest tinge of rational thought.

Since I know nothing about the Wide Band Approach for an Miata or anything for that matter except what I read. This the following speakers are selected from what I read by Decapotable:

2" Driver: Aurasound NSW2-326-8AT 2" Extended Range $19.90 each x 2 = $39.00 a pair.

8" Woofers that fit in a Miata doors:

CSS, Trio8 $80 each x 2 = $160.00

Peerless SLS 830667, 8" Paper Cone Woofer $49.40 each x 2 = $98.80

The price seems to be on par with low-mid priced major brand components. However I haven't even got to cross overs yet, because I don't actually no any brands so there will be that cost to add on.

Is the savings with these in comparison to the quality and price of the highest price major brand highend car audio component speaker systems?

Is there a compelling reason I should go Wide Band route over specifically the $300 Elemental Designs Combo Set. Click Here

If I get the Infinity Kappa Four amp cheapest I could is find is $253.00 which would be added to the cost also.
