On 6 April 2022, the Department for Education launched a pilot programme for Portable Flexi-job Apprenticeships. The project is referred to as Project FLEX. Skills4Stem are proud to announce that we have taken part in the pilot which has now been successfully running for over a year.Unlike a regular apprenticeship Project FLEX enables individuals to access the benefits of an apprenticeship while being employed on shorter, fixed term contracts. Project FLEX allows apprentices to move between employers after a period of 3 months without losing their place on their apprenticeship. This enables employers to employ apprentices for shorter projects without the worry of having to provide permanent work when the project has been completed. If you are interested in hiring an apprentice but your normal hiring patterns are short-term, a portable flexi-job apprentice could help fill this role and become part of your future talent pipeline. We are pleased to say that we now have a number of candidates on our Level 4 Site Supervisor course that are now looking for their next placement, for a minimum term of 3 months. If you would like to know more about the programme and the candidates that we currently helping to find their next placements, please email customerservices@skills4stem.co.uk

With National Apprenticeship Week here, I wanted to take a moment to debunk some common myths about apprenticeships. Myth #1: Apprenticeships are only for people who can't get into college. Reality: Apprenticeships are a great way for anyone, regardless of academic background, to gain valuable skills and hands-on experience in a specific field. 🎓Myth #2: Apprenticeships don't lead to successful careers. Reality: Many successful professionals, including CEOs and entrepreneurs, started out as apprentices. Apprenticeships provide a pathway to a rewarding and fulfilling career. 💼Myth #3: Apprenticeships are only for blue-collar jobs. Reality: Apprenticeships cover a wide range of industries, including tech, healthcare, and finance. Whatever your interests, there's likely an apprenticeship program that aligns with your career goals. 💻So, if you're considering your next steps after high school or looking to switch careers, I encourage you to explore the world of apprenticeships. National Apprenticeship Week is the perfect time to start your journey towards a bright and promising future. have a chat to Darren Ponsford or Lisa Burt Gosport and Fareham Multi Academy Trust SERT#NationalApprenticeshipWeek #Apprenticeship #CareerDevelopment

Exciting Developments in the Construction Industry! Recently, I caught a segment on BBC's One Show that really resonated with me. A determined 17-year-old shared his journey of seeking career advice for landing an apprenticeship in construction. Despite facing challenges and having to navigate the process on his own, he found his path and is now thriving as an apprentice. Kudos to him for his perseverance and dedication!A mum who was fed-up in her desk role wanted todo more and become self employed set up a plastering business she is thriving and encouraging more women to get into the construction industry. In other news, the launch of new apprenticeship funds this month injects £60 million into the industry. But the question remains: is this enough? With the growing demand for skilled workers, we need hundreds of individuals joining the construction sector each day to up-skill and contribute to building our future. However, when asked, many young people expressed hesitations about entering construction due to misconceptions about working conditions and salary expectations.Let's break down barriers and showcase the rewarding opportunities that construction offers! I'd love to hear your thoughts on how we can attract more talent to your business regardless of the sector. Let's build a brighter future in construction!#ConstructionIndustry #Apprenticeships #BuildingTheFuture

Having trouble finding workers?MSCI’s new Apprenticeship Program can help address your company's “skills gap." Thedeadline to join the inaugural cohort of companies is June 30, 2023. Apprenticeships are growing in popularity because they are an effective approach to recruit and retain high quality employees. Even so,many companies don’t know where to start or don’t have the time to develop or maintain a program.MSCI’s program addresses those headaches. Our vetted partners, Harper College in Illinois and TalentGro (a division of Hamilton-Ryker), have established plug-and-play apprenticeship opportunities for the most-requested role from MSCI members: industrial maintenance mechanic. They also can help you with recruitment. This feature includes TalentGro’s programs for finding top military talent seeking to transition to the civilian marketplace. TalentGro helps you recruit transitioning and former service members by sponsoring internship and pre-apprenticeship opportunities. MSCI and its partners will provide all the support you need for a successful apprenticeship. We will also help your company set up the key elements that are required for any federally-recognized apprenticeship:- Access to structured on-the-job training- Mentorship of the apprentice by an existing employee- Time for related classroom instruction (virtual options are available)As an added benefit, MSCI companies that work with one of our strategic partners will be eligible to join virtual quarterly meetings hosted by MSCI to network and exchange talent development best practices with other industrial metals professionals.Complete information is athttps://lnkd.in/eVY-nTpa. We hope your company will take advantage of this opportunity!#skillsgap #apprenticeships #hiring #industrialmetals #MetalMatters
